Let us begin at the beginning. My name is Ismael "Smiley" Alfaro and my wife and I own After Hours Improv Theater. This blog will follow the journey of opening, promoting, and the operations of our theater.
Our grand opening is October 3 at 8PM. Which is not far off. Not far off at all. But, the journey began over 5 years ago. My wife, Shari and I, met a group of other improvers at a community workshop. We started performing around town and before you know it, we were performing on a regular basis.
January 2007 found us performing regulary at The Texas Theater in downtown Waxahachie, Texas. The community really supported the show and things were humming along beautifully. Unfortunately, the theater closed at the end of 2007.
Shari and I were ready to move ahead and after a lot of deliberation, decided to find a place of our own. Enter Larry Burns. A local businessman who purchased the historic Roger's Hotel, also in downtown Waxahachie. We met, find a place, signed a lease, and that is where we are today.
I just summed up a lot of blood, sweat and tears into a few paragraphs. As this blog grows, I hope to give you a peek into the behind the scenes happenings of running a small business, tips on building your business, and hopefully, share with you our success story.
Stay tuned. Hope you join me on this ride.
